Becoming a member of the Spiritual Naturalists of Houston is free, simple, and easy. Being a member is synonymous with joining our Email List, which members are able to sign up or leave themselves. This list allows members to communicate with one another for interesting discussion or arranging gatherings of their own. It will also allow members to get announcements and reminders of our events.

Who We Are:

Our group is for people who have a philosophically naturalist view of the world (without supernatural beliefs). They are also interested in contemplative practices, based on the natural world, which help a person to live well, grow, flourish, and enjoy greater wisdom, compassion, and happiness. One consequence of practices being based on the natural world is that anyone can benefit from them, even if they also have supernatural or paranormal views. For this reason, all people are welcome to join or attend. However, please be aware that other members will not want to be preached to or told what they ought to believe, or spend the time debating or justifying their naturalism. Our group and events are for naturalists and assume such as a given, but we love and respect people of all beliefs. This also means we do not spend time criticizing or 'bashing' other beliefs or religions.

As a spiritual community, we create sacred spaces in which to support one another in our many diverse practices and traditions, be they physical spaces or virtual. As such, please behave as you would in a temple or similar place. While free to express yourself, please be compassionate, mindful, tolerant, and converse in a spirit of listening, patience, and with loving-kindness. Those who are not considerate or who turn discourses into overly debative adversarial affairs will be asked to change their behavior or leave. We also seek to avoid overly political or partisan topics, or the 'culture wars', in favor of more universal principles and practices that unite more than divide.

Your Privacy:
We seek to respect your privacy and all accepted norms when it comes to your private information. If you join our email list, your email address will be known to group leaders. Your email address will not be shared with other members simply by joining, but if you choose to post to the list, members may see your email address. If any member abuses this list, please let us know and we will take action. Lastly, if you make contact with other members directly and choose to interact outside of official events - please be safe, use caution in sharing personal information, meet new people in public spaces, and act responsibly.
